How the triage service works.

At Waggel, we understand that trying to arrange a vet visit or figuring out what to do when your pet is poorly can be a stressful experience.

To help avoid any unnecessary trips and associated treatment costs, you can opt into our triage service when purchasing a policy for your pet, which means that for each new illness or injury, you’ll be expected to use Joii’s online services to assess the severity of the situation.

Already a Waggel member? You can add our triage feature to your existing policy when it’s time to renew!

On-demand, accessible and affordable pet protection.

Some things to consider.

The triage feature is an optional add-on and may not be suitable for all policyholders.

It’s important to know that a £50 triage penalty fee will be charged if you visit a vet without using the vet triage service first for each new illness or injury. This penalty is in addition to your Excess (Claim Contribution).

You don’t need to use the vet triage service if your pet requires emergency treatment due to a life-threatening situation or a serious threat to their health. If your vet confirms the incident was an emergency, you won’t need to pay the £50 triage penalty fee.

Making life that little bit easier for pet parents.

No more unnecessary vet trips.

The triage feature means we can offer lower monthly premiums to policyholders who opt-in because fewer unneeded veterinary appointments result in fewer claims. There’s no catch; just an aim to make veterinary care more accessible for all.

Veterinary assistance whenever you need it.

Joii’s services are included with your policy meaning you’ll never have to pay to use the Symptom Checker or to consult with a vet via video consultation. Joii can recommend over-the-counter medications which can be purchased within their easy-to-use app.

Your questions, answered.

The Waggel vet triage service is a pre-vet consultation process provided by Joii. It helps determine if your pet needs to visit a vet practice. The service includes using Joii’s Symptom Checker or consulting with a vet through their online video platform.

We will send you an email 30 days before your renewal date with a quote for your new policy, the new policy details and information on how to opt in to the triage service if you would like to.

Yes, Joii offers an online video platform where you can consult directly with a vet as part of the triage process.

The vet triage service is required to assess your pet's condition and determine if a visit to a vet practice is necessary. It helps ensure that your pet receives the appropriate care while potentially saving you time and money.

You need to use the vet triage service for each new illness or injury. However, if your pet is diagnosed with an ongoing condition, you won't need to use the service again for that condition after the first triage consultation.

If you visit a vet without completing the vet triage service for a new illness or injury, you will be charged a £50 triage penalty fee in addition to your policy excess.

You can avoid the triage penalty fee by ensuring you complete the vet triage service for each new illness or injury before visiting a vet, unless it is an emergency situation.

If your pet requires emergency treatment due to a life-threatening situation or a serious threat to their health, you do not need to use the vet triage service. After you claim if your vet confirms it was an emergency, the £50 triage penalty fee will be waived.

The triage is considered complete once you've followed all the steps recommended by Joii’s Symptom Checker or after you've consulted directly with a vet through their online video platform.

If your pet’s condition worsens after completing the triage service, you should seek further veterinary advice. After you have completed your first vet triage consultation for your pet’s condition you are not required to revisit the triage service. Instead, you can directly visit a vet for any advice related to that condition.

You are able to remove the triage add-on within 7 days from when your policy starts and 30 days prior to renewal. You can make the changes by logging into your account and going to the relevant pet in the My Pets section and clicking 'Change Cover'.

For a stress-free experience, it's recommended to create an account with Joii. You can do this by following this link to Joii’s signup page.

No, you will not be charged for using Joii’s services. Joii's services, including the vet triage feature, are free to all Waggel members.
