Protect your pet with Waggel.

Are you worried about surprise vet costs creeping up on your Lurcher?

It’s hard to predict when accidents and illnesses can strike, leaving you unsettled and your graceful sighthound in need of care.

We understand how plans for daily walks and cosy nights can suddenly flip into frantic vet visits. No one wants that stress. That’s why we offer supportive, all-in-one cover to help you focus on your beloved companion rather than unpredictable bills.

We see your Lurcher dog as part of our warm community. Our pet insurance taps into the unique needs of this leggy crossbreed, born from crosses with Greyhound or Whippet lines.

And yes, we do things differently at Waggel: from a dedicated Lifetime policy that renews every year to the personal help of our Customer Champions, we want you and your dog to feel sure you’re in the right place.

If you’d like to explore a broader look at Lurchers in detail, our Lurcher breed guide provides more insights.

Why does a Lurcher need Lifetime insurance?

Your Lurcher might be a crossbreed or mixed breed, but that doesn’t make it immune to ongoing issues and health condition challenges.

Each year can bring changes, so you want cover levels that replenish annually. That’s exactly what a Lifetime cover plan does: it renews your cover limits every 12 months, so if your dog develops a long-term illness or ongoing condition, you won’t lose coverage for it (as long as you keep your policy active and it wasn't pre-existing).

At Waggel, we believe in insurance options that put your mind at ease with every sprint and zoomie. With plenty of insurance policies out there.

Like maximum benefit or time-limited, it's easy to get confused. So we choose to offer just one type of dog insurance product: a Lifetime policy. It’s simpler, and it ensures your pet is supported throughout its whole life.

How it works

Lifetime cover

A running tab that resets every renewal. If your cat’s arthritis meds cost £2,000 this year, the pot fills back up next year, so treatment carries on.

Time-limited

You get a set pot of money and a clock (usually 12 months) for each new condition. When the time’s up or the money’s spent, cover stops, even if the pet still needs care.

Maximum benefit (per-condition cap)

No time limit, just a fixed sum for each condition—for example, £5,000 for any future skin problems. Once you hit the ceiling, that condition’s excluded for good.

Accident-only

Vet fees paid only if your pet is injured—road accident, swallowed sock, that sort of drama. Illnesses aren’t included.

Common health issues for Lurchers and the costs involved.

One of the biggest worries for any dog insurance owner is potential vet bills for both illnesses and injuries.

Lurcher Pet insurance in the UK is around £25.00 on average per month. This is as of March 2025. That’s a small price to protect your always-on-the-go companion from the potentially high cost of treatment.

Without insurance, you could face hefty vet bills, especially if your dog needs surgery or ongoing medication.

A single operation, like fixing a fracture, may run into the thousands of pounds.

Below is a quick look at common conditions affecting Lurchers and how Lifetime insurance can offset those fees:
